Brazil Constitutional Data Protection Right Awaits Senate Approval

If passed, the Brazilian Constitution will be amended to add data protection as a fundamental right, and to grant the federal government exclusive responsibility for legislating on personal data protection; the Chamber first removed the amendment’s proposal to create an independent data protection authority before returning the revised draft to the Senate for final approval.
