If passed, all businesses in Minnesota regardless of size may not collect, use or disclose a consumer’s personal information (“PI”) without their consent, and must notify consumers about the categories of PI they wish to collect and the sources from which the PI is collected; consumer’s have a private right of action against businesses that do not comply, and non-compliance is subject to a fine up to $7,500 for each violation.
