If passed, a mobile application developer or a telecommunications carrier will be prohibited from sharing a customer’s location data collected while their device was physically present in the state, and a person who receives unlawful location data is prohibited from sharing it with third parties; violations of the Act will result in penalties up to $10,000 per person and individuals have the right to bring an action against violators in court.
