Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) has spoken about ‘seals of compliance’ being issued regarding the LGPD. It seems there are some private entities that have been issuing these ‘seals’ to companies without any authority to do so.
The ANPD confirmed that they do not currently accredit or recognize any entities to issue such seals of compliance. In addition they have also said that these seals are not a requirement for organizations to be compliant with LGPD. Any company offering these are no guarantee of compliance with the regulation as there is no accreditation from ANPD.
They have reiterated the role of a data protection officer and their role in relation to LGPD and highlighted some specific articles within the regulation for companies to refer to.
