New Foundation Thinking Required Around Privacy

At Value Privacy, we look closely at the phases and the trends around adoption of privacy laws.  Our point of view is that companies in general and senior management in particular need a better understanding of how fast privacy is changing standard practices.

Business as usual is not a valid approach – privacy requires rethinking of the foundational operating assumptions for every company.  Rethinking core assumptions is an opportunity to release new value and protect against the new risks.

In this recent example, the complaint of two individuals is allowed to move forward against a magazine publisher; the individuals successfully alleged that the publisher has violated their privacy rights by disclosing their personal information to data brokers without prior notice or consent.
