Online Advertising Prepares for Google’s Privacy Sandbox Initiative

CPO Magazine have spoken about the upcoming disruption set to be caused by the Google Privacy Sandbox initiative. In April 2021 Apple placed tighter restriction on the use of third-party cookies. This had a large impact on online advertising.

Now Google are about to start implementing their own restrictions. They have said that 1% of Chrome users will be switched to the new system in the first quarter of 2024. All other users are planned to transfer by the end of the year.

The initiatives were launched as a response to consumer frustration. There is concern around the amount of tracking cookies and personal information that online advertising accumulates.

You can read more about the initiative, it’s implementation and it’s impact on CPO Magazine’s website, here.
