Legislation: EU Parliament Approves Class Action Model

Qualified entities designated by Member States (after demonstrating that they meet specific criteria) can bring actions for protection of collective consumer interests that were harmed by infringements of EU law to obtain compensation, repair, replacement, price reductions, contract terminations, or reimbursements of the price paid; Member States have 24 months to transpose the Directive into national law and must set penalties for entity non-compliance with injunctive measures.
