Identity-Related Breaches Hit 84% of US Firms in 2021

Infosecurity have written about the latest data from Identity Defined Security Alliance regarding the amount of security breaches arising from stolen or compromised identities. It’s being said that it has reached epidemic proportions.

It was found that 84% of the 500 professionals that were polled had experienced an identity-related breach in 2021. Of that 78% said it had a direct business impact.

You can read more about the data in Infosecurity’s article. They talk about problems such as:

  • The vast amount of identities a business needs to create on a day-to-day basis with employees, freelancers, third-party vendors, etc.
  • Only 24% said they always remove a former employee’s access within a day of them leaving.
