Texas is Tenth State to Approve New Privacy Law

Texas has joined the ranks of those with a comprehensive privacy law since their governor signed the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA) into law. It will go into effect on July 1, 2024.

Who it Affects

The TDSPA applies to companies that do business in Texas or target products or services to Texas consumers and:

  • Process or engage in the sale of personal data; and
  • Are not a small business as defined by the US Small Business Administration.

Consumer Rights

  • Right to confirm
  • Right to opt-out
  • Right to delete
  • Right to access
  • Right to correction
  • Right to data portability
